Basic Golfing Tips for Perfecting your Game
Even the great golfers spend hours refining their game. Practice should include going to the putting green and hitting putts from various distances while trying to read the green- the lows, highs, etc. This should be done for 5 to 10 minutes, just getting a good feel for judging distances, putting motions, and the feel for the actual lay of the land.
Then try taking various clubs and practice your short game by hitting 10 to 20 shots to closer holes 100 to 150 yards away. This will help you develop a feel for how you deliver your short stroke using these clubs. Always use the driving range to loosen up prior to the golf game. Use 5 to 10 shots per iron starting with a short one such as the 9 iron and finishing with your 5 iron.
Pay attention to your swing as this is often were the problems begin and where you will receive the most golfing tips from fellow players. When using your driver, some golfers have a swing resulting in a fade which is when a ball moves to the left before it curves back to the right or a slice which is when the ball curves like a banana. To fix these errors, improve the swing path by placing a small towel under your right armpit if right handed. Try not to let go of the towel while swinging. The towel will fall out as you complete or finish. This technique is used to make you stay more connected at the impact position and swing your club from the inside rather than the outside.
Another hindrance to the perfect swing is failure to release the club at impact. Correct release includes putting the club face to a square position at impact. Correcting this problem is similar to how you make a stone skip on water. You hinge your wrist to create the power and then unload your wrist to throw the stone. This is the same feeling that you want to duplicate when unloading the club before impact. Using an impact bag can also be used to determine your release. Continue practicing these golfing tips and you will soon be playing like a pro.
